Inside the Extraordinary Rooms on Disney’s Newest Cruise “Wish”

0

Disney’s newest cruiseliner–the Disney “Wish”–is debuting next month and some of its rooms are beyond anything we’ve seen from Disney.

Disney is one of our favorite cruise lines. It’s (of course) family-friendly, highly dependable, and luxurious. Disney’s outstanding cruise entertainment is its calling card. (We should mention that the entertainment is all Disney inspired so, if you’re not a Disney fan, this cruise may not be for you.) If you love Elsa and Cinderella, you’ll be in heaven.

It’s hard to go wrong on Disney’s Wish… all the ship’s rooms are brand new. The staterooms seemed to have been inspired by Cinderella…with plenty of pale blue and magical white and gold decor. Here are some of our favorites:

Deluxe Family Verandah Stateroom

The deluxe family verandah stateroom comes with a balcony, a king-sized bed with white linens, and two wall lamps by the bed for late night reading. There are bunk beds and a murphy bed. Next to the bed is a vanity with a seat and mirror – complete with storage for makeup. There are several charging outlets which come in handy. There’s also a split bathroom (which means the bathtub and sink are in one room and the toilet is in another.) The bathroom is sophisicated with its white tiles and comes with plenty of bathroom soaps, body washes, and shampoo.

Another detail that ads to privacy in these rooms — there’s a curtain from the living room to the bedroom which help make it feel a little more like two rooms. And, of course, it comes with a verandah!

One-Story Conciege Suite

If you’re looking for total luxury, we recommend you secure a concierge suite. The one-story concierge suite is quite grand. It’s color scheme is white with punctuations of light blue. There is a mini-kitchen, pantry and wet bar, a white marble dining room table, two bedrooms with walk-in closets, and three full bathrooms.

Concierge suites are one story and come with a private whirlpool on the verandah. The color scheme is a soothing white, blue and gold and makes the room feel quite open and royale.

The beds have blue pillows and white linens. There’s a white chair with a footrest and gold pillows in the corner of the room. Next to it is a desk with a white chair, mirror and lamp. The ceiling is adorned by a crystal chandelier.  Disney’s concierge suites sleep 6 guests.

Wish Tower Suite

If money is no object, then this Wish Tower Suite is the suite for you.

The Wish Tower Suite is two floors and primely situated in the funnel of the boat. It sleeps 8 guests and features two main bedrooms, plus a children’s room and a library.

The library sofa can also convert into a bed.

There’s a living room, and a pantry with a dishwasher and refrigerator. The bathrooms feature a stunning French bathtub and marble walk-in shower. This is the best suite on the Disney Wish and the pictures tell you all you need to know.

The World’s Top 3 Exclusive Luxury Airliners

0

Who doesn’t love traveling in luxury? Our top three luxury airlines will cater to your every need while you journey through the air. Whether you’re on vacation or traveling for business, these incredible experiences will make sure you are super comfortable, entertained, and well-fed.

Swiss Airlines

Swiss Air’s individual “armchair” cabin courtesy of Swiss.com

This airline is known for its ambiance. Swiss Airlines uses warm oak wood colors and black plaid for the seats which looks very cozy…and very Swiss. First-class has a great amount of leg room and it offers great privacy through its individual suites. The food is amazing. And the airline’s newest first-class looks clean and fresh.

The airport lounge is styled a lot like the first-class seating with lots of oak wood colors. The menu at the lounge has a variety of great Swiss foods including cheese, champagne, and freshly brewed coffee. And, when it’s time for bedtime, your seat will be made into a luxurious flat bed with quality linens. It will feel like home…or, maybe even better!

Delta Airlines

Delta is a great, dependable airline with wonderful customer service. For long-haul trips, Delta’s first-class service (known as Delta One) is unrivaled by any other domestic airline. The entertainment on board is great with plenty of movies. The food? Truly first class.

Bonus tip: you’ll have plenty of storage. I recommend booking Delta One on coast-to-coast trips…and for sure, any overnight flights.  Delta One’s suite’s color is red, blue, and black (and includes a door to the suite that can be shut!) The lounge is casual and has plenty of snacks and sometimes a buffet.

Emirates Executive

We saved the best for last. Emirates Executive takes travel to a whole new level of luxury. The Executive jets are the airline’s newest line of private jets …they come complete with showers, a spa, and even a separate powder room.

There are 10 Suites on the jet board — and plenty of sofas and chairs that can be made into beds. Fine dining is one of the airlines’ calling cards and there’s an incredible selection to choose from on the menu. Dom Perignon champagne and caviar? Emirates has it all.

Plus, if you’re traveling with a large party, the cabin crew can even make special seating arrangements.

Best Luxury Beach Vacations for 2022

0
Have you ever wanted to vacation in amazing weather at the beach but just didn’t know where to go? Or, maybe, you worried the hotel might not be fun nor relaxing? There are a lot of choices out there so, the good news is we broke it down to the three most fun, relaxing, and super luxurious resorts in the world.

Maldives Soneva Jani

This hotel is a place you will never forget. It’s one of the most famous in the Maldives – and it’s famous, of course, for its bungalows – some of which even have waterslides! The water is crystal clear and turquoise blue.  The hotel has three restaurants and a poolside bar. There’s 24-hour room service – and, if you don’t like the ocean, every bungalow comes with a private pool. If you’re feeling social, there is a hotel pool as well. The hotel has a library, boutiques, boating, diving, fishing, snorkeling, private beach surfing lessons, wind-surfing, a yoga room, water sports, tennis, a spa, steam room, sauna, free breakfast and more. A bungalow will cost you $1,792 dollars until the end of July 2022. It’s a lot of money, but it’s a very special trip.

St. Barth’s Eden Rock

Eden Rock is a quiet resort — romantic and great if you’re on a honeymoon. Eden Rock has two bars and an excellent restaurant, plus a spa, gym and a boutique. Eden Rock has a private shuttle to take you to the island from the airport — and its staff is super accomodating and willing to help you arrange private tours of St. Barth’s. One special touch is that there’s no typical “Check-in” process.. instead, guests are invited to the deck, given champagne (or juice) and the check in process is done seemlessly…as though you were at someone’s house.

This hotel aso has an incredible private beach. Three nights in an Eden Rock room will run you about $2,700.00. Check for deals off-season in the summer — when you can also score a private car rental and breakfast in a special package

The Four Seasons Hualalai

Big Island Coast

The Four Seasons is our favorite luxury hotel company. This hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii is truly extraordinary and great for both couples and families.

Hualalai has 5 restaurants, including a poolside bar and a bakery. Also, if you’re a bit tired, the hotel offers 24-hour room service. It also offers tennis, golf, a spa, water sports, both  beach and pool services, plus retail stores, a fitness center, kids’ clubs, teen club and babysitter services. Hualalai has both suites and villas. Standard rooms with a prime ocean view room will set you back $1,520 a night.

Enjoy your travels!

 A Mystic Gem- B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill

Looking for a fun fall activity in Mystic, CT? Established in 1881, and located in historic Old Mystic, is B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill. This extremely popular, family owned and operated mill is the oldest steam-powered cider mill in the United States. Open for the fall months, take a step back in time and enjoy homemade donuts, wine, and cider-making demonstrations while walking the gorgeous grounds.

Best known for their gallons of sweet cider and delicious cider donuts, Clyde’s also has an assortment of baked goods and many products in their pantry. Apple turnovers, apple pies, apple dumplings, caramel apples are just a few of the fall goodies for purchase. Cookies, muffins, pies, and brownies are all freshly made on site.

Courtesy of B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill

Clyde’s is also famous for their wines and hard ciders. They are typically between 12-14% alcohol content, (with the exception of one named “The 8%” which is a lower alcohol content and very dry). Both begin by aging in oak whiskey barrels. The hard ciders go from the barrel to the jug which makes them oaky and raw. The wines are put through a filtering process and, because they are apple wines, they are different from the typical grape wines… but just as tasty!

These flavors can be made as both a wine or as a hard cider:

The Original- oaky

The Lucky Lion- similar to a scotch

The Boomerang- tart apple cranberry

The Goodfella- apple blackberry

The Blackout- tastes of whiskey, dry and bold

The Yellow Jacket: apple-orange

The “wines only” are absolutely delicious… Try any of these wonderful flavors:

The Mystic Mango- The newest, sweet and tart with apples, mango and cranberry

Apple Wine- light and dry

The Spider Cider- a favorite with pumpkin spices and great for a hot toddy

The Blueberry Spinner- sweet and succulent

The Cider House Blend- slightly sweet and tart

Apple Strawberry- sweet and tart with a strong bite

The Strawberry Bliss- sweetness abounds

The Spiced Apple- made with mulling spices and a staple for fall

Open 7 days a week. September – October: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. November – December: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

How to Make a Gorgeous Charcuterie Board

Char·cu·te·rie, pronounced “SHärˈkoo͞ dərē”, is a French term for an assortment of cold, cooked meats…

Charcuterie boards are as popular as ever and reaching new heights. They are not just an easy appetizer for a party of two or twenty, but have become beautiful works of art to be shown off and admired. It’s all in the presentation…

Courtesy of Mark Trent

I like to start with the board itself. A regular cutting board pulled out of the cabinet can turn into a beautiful piece of art housed with fine meats, fruit, and cheeses. A slab of slate works very well too along with marble or porcelain platters.

Choosing your cheese is based on personal preference. There are a wide variety of cheeses with different tastes and textures. A combination of aged (Cheddar or Gouda), firm (Parmigiano-Reggiano), soft and creamy (Brie or Mozzarella), crumbly (Goat or Feta) or salty Blue and Gorgonzola will make a well-rounded variety and satiate any palette. Tip: use an odd number of cheeses and meats- three or five of each, depending on the crowd, and plan on about 2 ounces of cheese and meat per person. Cheese should be served at room temperature.

Courtesy of Mark Trent

Begin by arranging the largest items first. Groups of whole roasted or grilled vegetables or bunches of grapes, cheese wedges or wheels can be strategically placed around the board. Fill in with small bowls of jams, truffle honey, bruschetta, pepper jelly, whole-grain mustards, pesto, EVOO, hummus, olives and nuts (Marcona Almonds are a favorite). Don’t forget the the small spoons, spreaders, and cheese knives.

Next, arrange the slices and ribbons of meat. These dried, cured meats include prosciutto, speck, chorizo, salami, capicola (or coppa) and sopressata. Arrange different crackers or sliced French baguettes. Tip: Dip the baguettes in EVOO and broil.

To top it off, add colorful garnishes and sprigs of fresh herbs (rosemary, chives, lavender, and oregano), and small skewers of whole fruits (blueberries strawberries or slices of apples). Add edible flowers (nasturtium, orchids and pansies) for an aesthetically pleasing presentation. The possibilities are endless and each board truly is a work of art.

Fun and creative board for the 4th of July! Courtesy of Mark Trent

Wine Pairings

Champagnes and sparkling wines are often considered a nice pairing with charcuterie boards due to the high acidity and lower alcohol content. Rustic reds (Cabernet, Malbec, Petit Syrah, Zinfandel) with bold tannins pair well with Speck and Smoky Hams. Lighter to medium reds, such as a Pinot Noir, is perfect with a French-style pork. Even whites, a Reisling, Chenin Blanc, Moscato or an Oaky Chardonnay, pair well with a good Soupy and Brie!

BLOCK+BOTTLE

In true Mystical Living fashion, we love to feature local businesses. Block+Bottle opened in Spring of 2021 and is located in the Standard Building (3 Water Street) in beautiful downtown Mystic. Dine in or take out, you can build your own charcuterie board accompanied by fine wines, beer and cocktails. The cheeses and meats and other ingredients are artisanal, local and seasonal. Enjoy!

Get Beach Body Ready With This Simple At Home Workout

It’s beach season! Time to grab the suntan lotion, towel, sunglasses and… bathing suit. Are you beach body ready after the long winter? Try this simple at home workout, effective for both men and women, to look your best this summer.

AT HOME WORKOUT

Remember, with any new workout program, it’s important to consult with your doctor first, eat healthy, sleep well, and drink plenty of water. This simple workout can be done anywhere and at any time. If you’re a beginner, you will start by using only your bodyweight as resistance and complete this workout 2-3 times a week. Simply take your time and do what you can. You will build endurance and strength if you are consistent! If you are someone who workouts regularly, you may increase the difficulty by increasing the rapidity of the exercises (how many you can do in an interval), completing the workout 6 times a week, or add weights.

Regardless of your ability, this exercise regimen will…

Increase your strength

Tone your muscles

Improve your sleep

Boost your metabolism

Increase bone density

Reduce inflammation

Improve your posture

Assist in weight loss

The following 10 exercises should be done for 1 minute each (1 minute for each movement). Once you complete all 10 (which will take 10 minutes) rest for 2 minutes and have a drink of water. Repeat the set 3 times.

1 JUMPING JACK

Standing up straight, bring your hands to meet over your head while simultaneously bringing your feet out to a little more than shoulder-width apart. Jumping back into place, bring your hands to your side and your feet together. Repeat for one minute. To increase difficulty, do this exercise as fast as you can.

2 SQUAT

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Bend into a squat position so that your body weight is in the back of your heals and your knees do not go past your toes. You will know you have the correct form if your body feels like it could fall backwards. Bring your hands out in front of you to counter-balance. From the squat position, stand up straight tucking in your glutes at the top of the move. Keep your stomach muscles tight throughout the entire exercise. Repeat for one minute. To increase resistance, you may add the appropriate amount of hand weights.

3 PUSH-UP

Lying face down on the floor, bring your hands to the outside of your shoulders. Push your body up. Keep your head in line with your spine and look straight in front of you. You may keep your knees on the floor if you prefer. Raise and lower in one complete movement, all parts of the body moving together. Repeat for one minute.

4 LUNGE

Starting with feet together and arms at your side, take a large step forward with one leg until it reaches a 90 degree angle. Keep your back straight. Push off your front foot to lift your body back to the starting position. Switching legs, repeat for one minute. To increase difficulty, add the appropriate amount of hand weights.

5 PUSH-UP TO SIDE PLANK

From the top of the push-up position, raise your arm straight above you. Hold for 3 seconds. Carefully, lower your arm back to the floor and your body back to the top of the push-up position. Complete a push-up. Repeat for one minute, switching arms. To increase difficulty, add a light hand weight.

6 SIDE LUNGE

Standing straight with feet together, take a big step to the side and bending down to a squat position. Keep your hips back with your weight in your heels. Bring your body back to the starting position. Repeat for one minute, switching legs. To increase difficulty, add the appropriate amount of hand weights.

7 ALTERNATING SIDE REACHES

Starting with your feet shoulder-width apart, bring your hand above, reaching for the ceiling, while simultaneously bringing your foot (on the the same side) out. Feel a great stretch on that side of the body before switching to the other side. Switching sides continuously, repeat for one minute.

8 NARROW SQUAT

Starting with feet and knees together in a standing position, bend down as if you’re sitting in a chair. Keep your knees pressed tightly together and your weight in your heels. Come back to starting position. Repeat for one minute.

9 BICYCLE CRUNCH

Lying on your back, bring your right knee up to a 90 degree angle, your left leg straight out and press your lower back into the floor. Put your hands behind your head. Cradle your head with your hands so you do not strain your neck. With your left shoulder, crunch toward your right knee while your left leg is straight. Switch sides. Repeat for one minute.

10 LYING GLUTE LIFTS

Lying flat on your back, bend your knees and place your feet firmly on the floor. Feet should be shoulder-width apart. Raise pelvis up to the ceiling making sure to flex your glutes tightly. Repeat for one minute.

STRETCH, eat well, drink water, and get consistent sleep
