One of my favorite dishes to eat and create are Asian lettuce wraps. They taste amazing and they are so easy to make- especially when time is scarce during the busy work week. This delicious and uncomplicated recipe will surely become a staple in your cooking repertoire. Add whatever protein or vegetables you prefer, pair with a dry Riesling wine and enjoy dinner!
Asian Lettuce Wraps
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
1 pound of ground chicken or beef
1 cup of shredded carrots
1 cup of thinly sliced bell pepper
1/2 cup of thinly sliced onion
1 can of water chestnuts (chopped)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 head of butter lettuce
1 packet of Lee Kum Kee Sauce
Heat olive oil on medium high heat and add chicken or beef. Fry until brown.
Add all vegetables (feel free to add or subtract vegetables based on preference) and fry for an additional 2 minutes.
Add 3/4 of Lee Kum Kee Sauce. Bring to a simmer for 4 minutes.
Scoop chicken or beef mixture into the lettuce cups.
Place extra sauce, red pepper flakes and scallions in separate bowls for additions to the wraps.
Serve and enjoy!
